|East Lansing comes out strong and fast tonight as they beat Grand Ledge 3-1. East Lansing put a lot of pressure on the Grand Ledge defense and DeJuan Jones scored the first goal on a great individual effort 10 minutes into the game.
First half ended with East Lansing maintaining a 1-0 lead from that early solo goal. The Trojans once again started the 2nd Half with high pressure which resulted in East Lansing being given a penalty kick 10 minutes in when a Grand Ledge defender committed a foul just inside of the goal box. Tommy Lammers converted on the penalty kick to make it 2-0 for the Trojans. Grand Ledges Zach Garfield was able to score from a deflected loose ball in the box and just to the left of the goal making it 2-1 with 25 minutes left in the game. Ben Swanson-Ralph split the Comets defenders with a pass to Jared Howenstine. Jared was able to score a great shot to the far post as the Comet Goalie came out to challenge him and got beat to make the final score 3-1 in favor of the Trojans. The JV's tied Grand Ledge tonight with a score of 1-1. Chris Wallace (EL) had 7 saves against 8 Shots while Shawn Carr (GL) made 5 saves against 7 shots.

East Lansing will be facing off with Okemos for the CAAC Blue Division Championship at stake this coming Wednesday, Sept. 25. Game Times Jv 5:00 pm & Varsity 6:30 pm @ the East Lansing Soccer Complex's Archer Stadium. The Seniors along with their parents will be honored at half time as it will be "Senior Night" for the "East Lansing Trojans".
