Holt- The East Lansing boys and girls track and field teams finished in second and third place respectively in the MHSAA regional track meet held at Holt High School on Friday. The Trojans got outstanding performances by junior Kentre Patterson who finished first in the 110 and 300 hurdles and will be seeded first in the state finals. He also was a part of the 1600 relay team that finished second. Jacob Stanton finished third in the 3200 meter run and Evan Meyer took a fourth place in the 1600 meter run. Malcym Carroll cleared 12′ 6″ in the pole vault and Heath Williams took second place in the shot put with a throw of 47’10.5″. All the above mention athletes qualify for the state finals with Josh Smith and BJ Powell who are a part of the 1600 relay team with Patterson and Meyer. As a team the Trojans took a second place at the regional behind Rockford.
Junior Taylor Manson paced the girls team to a third place team finish behind Rockford and Okemos. Manson won the 200 and 400 meter races and qualified in the 4×200 meter relay team. Re’Anna Blair placed fourth in the 200 and also a part of the 4×200 relay team. Mariyah Lewis placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 113′ 03″. Kayla Gibbs took second in the 100 and fifth in the 200.
