Game Recap

EAST LANSING- The Trojans opened up district play with a 5-1 win over the Redwings of St. Johns. East Lansing struck quickly on a corner kick early in the first half on a nice ball from Brady Carlson who saw teammate Drew Person head it into the back of the net. Ansu Lebbie put the Trojas up 2-0 twelve minutes later on an assist by Alden Metzmaker. Lebbie added his second goal 10 minutes later on a pass from Quinton Hay. Lebbie returned the favor minutes later when he passed the ball to Hay to make it 4-0.
St. Johns broke through with five minutes left in the first half to cut the lead to 4-1.

In the second half, East Lansing regained control of the game and added their final goal early on to give them a 5-1 lead. Hay added his second goal on an assist from Sam Lebbie. Nick Isham and Person led the way defensively. Scott Campbell (3 saves), Elijah Sheridan (2 saves) and Ben Maves (2 saves) shared time in net.

East Lansing advances to the second round to the district tournament. They will play Lansing Eastern who held a bye in the first round at DeWitt at 7:00PM on Wednesday night. East Lansing is 17-2-2
