East Lansing’s Jaida Hampton is the of the 2018 Michigan Miss Basketball award given by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM). At the award ceremony today in downtown Detroit Jaida thanked God, her family, coaches and teammates helping her with the great achievement. She also recongized the other fianlist for the award. The are Camree Clegg of Wayne Memorial, Kaela Webb of Detroit Country Day, and Lasha Petree of Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.
Jaida Hampton is the second East Lansing recipient of the Miss Basketball award. Klarissa Bell won in 2010. Hampton and her East Lansing teammates will be in action on Tuesday night at Dewitt High School at 7:00 PM in the MHSAA quarterfinals as the take on Muskegon.
