The East Lansing Soccer team qualified for it’s third trip to the MHSAA State Finals with a 2-0 win over Farmington Hills Harrison in the semi-final game at Fenton on Wednesday night. This is the Trojans eighth trip to the finals and third in the last 5 seasons. East Lansing has won state championships in 1987,2002,2005,2013 and 2014.

The Trojans got second half goals from Almir Celovic  with 17.52 remaining in the regulation time. Mohamed Babale headed the second goal on a beautiful sliding cross assist from freshman Will Knapp just under 7 minutes remaining to seal the victory and send the Trojans to the finals.

The Trojans will play for the programs sixth State Championship at Comstock Park High School on Saturday. The game will kickoff at 12:00 noon. The Trojans will face Holland who beat Coldwater 3-0 in the other Division 2 semi-final.

There will be a fan bus that will depart the high school at 10:15 AM. Cost for the ride will be $5 per person. Parents are welcome to ride the fan bus. if there is room. Admission to the game will be $8.00 at the gate.

Comstock Park High School is located at 150 Six Mile Rd. NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Parking is $3.00 per car and $5 for a motor home or RV.

Game Recap

The Trojans traveled to Okemos ready to play for the last game of their regular season. A hard fought game ended up with the Chiefs clinching a close win. The second game was a back and forth effort as well but the Chiefs managed to score some late points for an overall victory.

Multiple Teams · East Lansing Soccer Team Wins Regional Championship


The East Lansing varsity soccer team won it’s second consecutive MHSAA Regional Championship with a 2-0 win over Petoskey at the EL Soccer Complex. The Trojans will now face Farmington Hills Harrison on Wednesday at Fenton High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

East Lansing dominated play from start to finish and open the scoring on a PK from Alden Metzmaker at the 20 minute mark of the first half. The fist half ended 1-0.

Almir Celovic score on a shot form 30 yards out at the 32 minute mark of the second half and the Trojans never looked back.

Game Recap

East Lansing set the tone early in their pre-district playoff game Friday night, scoring 21 first quarter points on their way to a 35-7 victory over Tecumseh. Just four plays into the game Kobe Hayward ran the ball in from 9 yards out and Jack Morse kicked the extra point. The second possession lasted only four plays as well ending with a 21 yard pass from Connor Charamella to Blake Underwood with Morse again adding the extra point. Hayward would score again from 11 yards out, Morse would convert the kick and the Trojans were off to a big playoff win. Kobe Hayward ended the night with 23 carries, 205 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Connor Charamella went 9 for 11, 146 yards, and a TD. Blake Underwood led the receivers with 6 catches, 106 yards, and a TD. The defense was led by Jamar Mills, Derrick Lee, Justin Brown, Blake Underwood, and Spencer Tyler. The Trojans will face the Haslett Vikings in a district final next Friday night in East Lansing. Multiple Teams · Soccer Team Advances to Regional Final


The East Lansing boys soccer team beat Goodrich on Thursday night to advance to the MHSAA Division 2 Region 8 soccer final on Saturday. Goodrich open the scoring near the 20 minute mark of the first half. Trojan junior defender Paul Carney evened the score on a corner kick that was mishandled by the Martian goalkeeper. East Lansing kept the pressure on but was not able to get the go-ahead goal. The first half ended with the score tied 1-1.

The second half was dominated with Trojan chances but the could not find the back of the net. Goodrich got a golden opportunity with 5 minutes to play in regulation time but goalkeeper Ben Maves deflected the shot over the net. With under 2 minute to play Alden Metzmaker scored the game winning goal on a feed from Sam Morse to secure the victory for the Trojans.

In the second semi final the Petoskey Northmen defeated Notre Dame Prep 1-0. The game was scoreless in regulation and overtime. The Northmen won the shootout 3-2.

The regional final game will be played on Saturday at Archer Stadium in the East Lansing Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:00 PM. Admission is $5.00.
