EAST LANSING- The Trojan boys soccer team have had a few slow starts this season and that did not change against Mason Bulldogs Saturday at Archer Stadium. Yet again, the Trojans manged to come from behind and take the match 3-2.
The Bulldogs scored two goals in the first ten minutes putting the Trojans down 2-0. The Trojans managed to even the score in the next ten minutes when when Kai Francisco buried a direct kick to cut the lead to one. Minutes later Paul Carney blasted a ball 30 yards out that had deflected off a corner. The game was tied 2-2 heading into halftime.
In a very physical game that saw it’s fair share of fouls and yellow cards, East Lansing took the lead when Mohumed Babale headed in a beautiful corner ball from Will Knapp. East Lansing managed to hold off a pressing Mason attack . Carney, Andrew Mahler, Aiden Rudy, Alejandro Medina, Sam Morse and Knapp held the Trojans defensive effort together. Robert Nystrom did well as the defensive midfielder for East Lansing.
Nekko Criswell-Grinage had 5 saves in the win.
East Lansing is 5-0-1 and (0-0 in the CAAC Blue). They start league play on Monday as they travel to play the Lansing Everett Vikings.
