Even though East Lansing Trojans Varsity gave up three runs in the fifth inning, they still defeated Whitmore Lake 14-3 on Monday. Amy Mayo, Kylie Wilson, and Lindsay Francis powered the big inning with RBIs.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity got things moving in the first inning. East Lansing Trojans Varsity scored one run when Courtney Bertsch doubled.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity notched four runs in the fifth inning. Amelia Arnold, Emily Fordell, and Ellie Myron all drove in runs in the frame.
Bertsch got the start for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. She allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two.
Delaney Peters was in the pitcher’s circle for Whitmore Lake. She allowed 17 hits and 14 runs over four and two-thirds innings, walking one.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity collected 17 hits on the day. Myron, Alexis Johnson, Megan Nichols, Arnold, Fordell, and Marisa David each had multiple hits for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. Johnson and Myron each collected three hits to lead East Lansing Trojans Varsity.
Paige Everard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Whitmore Lake in hits.
