An early lead helped East Lansing Trojans Varsity defeat Whitmore Lake 7-2 on Monday. East Lansing Trojans Varsity scored on a single by Megan Nichols in the first inning, a double by Marisa David in the second inning, and a single by Alexis Johnson in the second inning.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity took the lead for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second David doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Johnson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity notched three runs in the seventh inning. Amelia Arnold and Emily Fordell all drove in runs in the frame.
Ellie Myron got the start for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. She lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven.
Delaney Peters was in the pitcher’s circle for Whitmore Lake. She lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs while striking out four.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity racked up 11 hits on the day. Johnson and Nichols each racked up multiple hits for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. Johnson led East Lansing Trojans Varsity with four hits in four at bats.
