East Lansing Girls Basketball returned to their winning ways by defeating Lansing Everett on Friday night by a score of 87-16. The Trojans set the tempo early and led 27-4 after one quarter and 58-8 at the half. Ahlura Lofton connected on her first three shots from behind the arc and finished with 11 points. Other double figure scorers were Aaliyah Nye with 12 and Soraya Timms with 10. Every girl on the roster contributed in the scoring column which included 16 of 25 from behind the arc and 11 of 13 from the charity stripe. Ella Miller led the team in rebounds with 8. The Trojans turned over the Vikings 26 times including 20 steals that led to 41 points of the total output. In the process, East Lansing secured a CAAC Blue Championship for the 15th time under coach Rob Smith. Next up for the girls is a rematch of the State Championship game last spring versus Saginaw Heritage. Tipoff is 7:30 on Tuesday February 26. GO TROJANS!!
