East Lansing Trojans Varsity took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off triple at the end of the game to topple Okemos. East Lansing Trojans Varsity trailed 16-15 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Megan Nichols tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity was boosted by Amelia Arnold who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Arnold singled in the third, singled in the fourth, doubled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh.
Okemos got things moving in the first inning, when Johnna Rieck singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, East Lansing Trojans Varsity tied things up at 13 when Courtney Bertsch tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity notched seven runs in the fourth inning. East Lansing Trojans Varsity’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Marisa David, Arnold, Bertsch, and Ellie Myron and a double by Alexis Johnson.
Okemos scored five runs in the third inning. Okemos big bats were led by Rieck, Gracie Gillard, and Hannah Barker, all driving in runs in the frame.
Myron was in the pitcher’s circle for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. She surrendered six runs on three hits over two and a third innings, striking out two.
Emily Knox led things off in the circle for Okemos. She allowed seven hits and eight runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Teagan Hemmerly threw three and two-thirds innings in relief.
East Lansing Trojans Varsity had 18 hits in the game. Arnold, Nichols, Myron, Bertsch, David, and Johnson all collected multiple hits for East Lansing Trojans Varsity. Arnold went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead East Lansing Trojans Varsity in hits.
Okemos tallied 13 hits. Rieck, Bailee Conrad, and Barker each had multiple hits for Okemos. Rieck led Okemos with four hits in six at bats.
