OKEMOS- Just eight days after giving up five goals and dropping their first game of the season, the boys varsity soccer team returned to Okemos with a different attitude and result and advanced with a 2-1 win over the Chiefs in penalty kicks.
The Trojans quickly scored in the first two minutes of the game when Mohamed Babele knocked into the net on a pass from Kai Francisco. The Trojans took that lead into halftime.
Both teams continued to battle back and forth and Okemos tied the game midway through the second half to knot the game 1-1. At the end of 80 minutes the teams went to penalty kicks. The Trojans won the contest 4-2 with goals from Paul Carney, Kai Francisco, Cade Moreno and Sam Morse.
The Trojans played its best defensive game and were led but the defensive midfield play of Robert Nystrom and Levi Sheridan. The back line of Morse, Carney Aiden Rudy and Will Knapp. Nekko Criswell-Grinage played his best game of the year picking up seven saves.
The Trojans will play Haslett in the final on Tuesday in the Gold Cup final. The game will be hosted by Okemos and follow the Silver Cup. Approximate game time is 7:00PM.
