EAST LANSING- The Trojan boys soccer team earned its second conference win with a 5-2 victory over the DeWitt Panthers Wednesday night.
Drew Lietz scored early in the game on a deflection off the keeper when Sam Morse blasted a dead ball outside the box. DeWitt countered moments later when the Trojans allowed a long ball off a set piece get into their box to even the score.
East Lansing then took control of the game with a two goals from Kai Francisco and a goal from Jake Isham. Two of the goals were assisted by Aiden Rudy and another by Tawfeak Shetiah allowing East Lansing to enter the break leading the Panthers 4-1.
In the second half, DeWitt was able to execute another goal off set piece to cut the lead to 4-2 but moments later Isham picked up his second goal on an assist by Will Knapp.
Sam Morse, Paul Carney, Andrew Mahler and Knapp held the Panther attack in check. Alejandro Medina, Ryan Nichols, Benno Stazewski and Rudy added more defensive help. Nekko Criswell-Grinage made two saves in the contest.
East Lansing will take a break from its CAAC Blue schedule as they host the East Lansing Tournament. Big Rapids, Portage Northern and Saginaw Heritage fill out this years field. The Trojans will take on Big Rapids at 11:45AM on Saturday. East Lansing is 7-0-1 and 2-0 in the CAAC Blue.
